Invite a Co-Parent to Xtra Hands for Free

Keeping a household moving usually takes more than one adult. One parent may set up the chores, while another checks what got done after school or helps keep the routine going from a different home. Both need to see the same picture, not trade screenshots or maintain separate lists.

Xtra Hands lets you invite another co-parent into the same household for free. They can use their own phone to see chores, review completed work, and help manage the day-to-day routine. Inviting a co-parent does not use a paid chore-member seat. Our pricing guide explains how member plans work.

Why we built it this way

A shared chore system is much less useful when all the administrative work lands on one person. Parents may split school pickups, work different hours, or coordinate across two homes. The adults helping run a household should be able to work from the same chores, ledger, and approvals without paying for a second parent login.

A co-parent joins the existing household rather than starting another one. They get their own sign-in and a parent view on their device, so everyone works from the same current information. The primary parent still keeps owner-only controls, including billing and inviting other co-parents.

How to invite a co-parent

  1. On the primary parent's phone, open Manage.

  2. Tap Invite a co-parent under Household.

  3. Let them scan the QR code, or tap Share a link instead to send the invitation.

  4. They open the link and sign in with Apple or Google to join your household.

The invitation link expires after seven days. If it expires before they join, open the invite screen and share a fresh one.

One household, two parent views

Once the invitation is accepted, the co-parent opens the same household from their own phone. They can check what is coming up, approve completed chores, and keep up with earnings and balances without waiting for the primary parent to pass over a device.

More help, not another subscription

Invite the adult who shares the responsibility, whether they live in the same home or help from somewhere else. They can take part in the everyday work of running the household, and adding them as a co-parent costs nothing.
